Aquatic friend.

:) Meet Jonah :)

Our pet turtle. He's a red eared slider.. and I've had him since 2003.. which would make him.. wow, almost 7-ish?! years old!

When I first got him, he was the size of a quarter. I can't believe how much he has changed.

Although I really enjoy him, he is HARD to take care of. Turtles are very messy little reptiles, and they require clean water to survive, which depends on your care!

He's now in a 30 gallon tank, and seems to have stayed the same size for a while now.

Yes, he'll bite. Yes, I've been bitten. I don't think he means it.. he's like a DOG and begs for food.. I'm pretty sure he just mistook me for a tasty little treat. Yes, I bled.

I forgave him.

I would actually discourage anyone, from getting a turtle as a pet. They can live, for a very, very long time. And as I said, require a lot of maintenance.

I feel bad for him at times, in there all alone.

I got him a pet fish once! That's right, his very own, pet fish.

He ate him.

This is when I learned, Jonah eats fish.

Duh. Right?!

Well, it didn't occur to me that he would. haha.

My cat likes Jonah. When we clean the tank, and put him in the bathtub, she loves to sit on the side of the tub, and watch his every move.

I'm pretty sure he'd snip her curious little nose off. :)

So in my living room he remains, as a part of our little family..

maybe one day I'll find him a happy home, where he can make friends.
